One of the most important things that I have learned while being on the University of Alabama football team is that only Jesus can truly satisfy us. We run to so many different things to try to satisfy us, such as sports, school, girls/guys, drugs, music, etc. It is easy to get wrapped up in these things, especially when they are the "cool" things to do.

But I have learned that at the end of the day, only a relationship with Jesus Christ can truly satisfy us. I would be lying if I told you that I haven’t run to things other than Jesus to satisfy me, even after I had been saved and while I had a personal relationship with Jesus. I can remember times when I have made other things my idols, and every time these different things have only satisfied me for a short period of time.

For instance, I thought that winning the National Championship would have been the best feeling that I have ever experienced. In 2009, we were fortunate enough to win a national championship. Now two years later, only one moment sticks out in my head when I think about the actual game. I can remember being on the stage after the game with my championship hat and shirt on, and I remember just thinking to myself, "Is this it?"

Our team had been working to get to that moment for a whole year. We had spent countless hours to give us the best chance to win the championship and, honestly, the satisfaction from winning that game doesn’t even remotely compare to the satisfaction that I get from having a personal relationship with Jesus. It’s in times like these when I know that nothing on this Earth can even approach the satisfaction that Jesus Christ gives to us freely.
