I’m what’s called a P.K. — a pastor’s kid. My dad has been in the ministry for 30 years. But when I was growing up, I would act a certain way around my friends but then act differently
when I was around Christian friends. I didn’t listen to my teachers or my parents. I just wanted to do my thing. When I was 19, I was coming home from playing basketball and I heard bullets. I raced home and prayed, “Thank you Lord for getting me home safe. For you I will live, and for you I’ll die.” And I gave my life to Christ.

After that, I began to recall words from the Bible that my mom and dad taught me as a child. Those words never went away. I’m thankful to have a personal, authentic relationship with Him. I’m so thankful that God calls me His child. Now, I can speak to kids about how I grew up and not be ashamed of the One I believe in. I enjoy sharing with kids where I was, where
I am now, and where God is taking me. In the Bible it says to pray continually and always give thanks, no matter if times are bad, good or indifferent. Everything happens for a reason.

I’m striving to be a better Christian, husband, brother and teammate. I’m more at peace.
